MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team is set for a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference road dual on Thursday. The Dragons face No. 1 St. Cloud State at 7 p.m. at a neutral site in Pierz, Minn. The Huskies are the designated home team.
The dual will be held at the Pierz High School which is located at 112 Kamnic Street, Pierz, MN 56364
The Dragons are currently 1-5 overall and 0-4 in conference duals this season. MSUM picked up their first dual victory against crosstown foe Concordia last Thursday, winning 20-19. The Dragons are coming off a 38-6 loss to No. 10 Upper Iowa on Sunday.
Sophomores Justin Dravis and Evan Foster helped complete the comeback win against Concordia. Senior Zach Scott’s pin at 149 helped give the Dragons a much-needed momentum boost.
Foster is 16-11 overall and ranked 14th at 174. Foster won a 6-2 decision against Concordia’s Ian Frenzel last week. Sophomore Mason Schulz is 16-13 overall and ranked 15th at 141. Schulz recorded a 5-0 win over Concordia’s Cade Lundeen last Thursday. Scott is 16-11 overall at 141 this season. Scott pinned Concordia’s Brett Wilson at 3:22 last week and added a pin in the loss at Upper Iowa.
Kris Nelson is in his 11th season as head coach of the Dragons.
Following the dual against St. Cloud State, the Dragons head to Mankato, Minn., on Feb. 6 to take on Minnesota State at 7 p.m.

St. Cloud State is ranked No.1 in the NCAA Division II wrestling poll. The Huskies are 12-0 overall and 4-0 in NSIC duals. SCSU is coming off a 45-0 road win over UMary on Jan. 25. The Huskies have eight wrestlers rank in the NWCA DII Coaches Association weight polls. SCSU has four wrestlers ranked No. 2, one ranked third, one ranked fourth, one ranked fifth, and one ranked ninth.
