Minnesota State Enters 2020 Postseason Ranked 18th

MANKATO, Minn. — The Minnesota State wrestling team enters the 2020 postseason tied for 18th in the 2019-20 NCAA Division II Wrestling Coaches Association Top 25 Poll.

The Mavericks, who completed the 2019-20 regular season with a 10-3 mark in dual action and finished second in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference with a 6-2 league record, have four individuals who are ranked in their respective weight classes.

Junior Kyle Rathman (Apple Valley, Minn.) holds a 14-3 record and is rated third at 149 lbs. Rathman is coming off a postseason last year where he finished seventh at the NCAA DII national championships in earning All-American honors.

Senior Louie Sanders (Truman, Minn.), who earned a bid to last year’s NCAA DII Wrestling Championships, is rated 10th at 141 lbs., and owns a 12-4 record this season.

Senior Zach Johnston (Waukee, Iowa) has posted a 16-7 record and enters regionals ranked 11th at 174 lbs.

Senior Matthew Blome (Mount Horeb, Wis.) enters the postseason rated 10th at 197 lbs., with a 13-5 record.

The Mavericks compete at the 2019-20 NCAA Division II Super Regionals On Saturday, Feb. 29 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
