Neises Earns NSIC Wrestler of the Week Honors

The Senior went 2-0 in Augustana’s dual wins last week

BURNSVILLE, Minn. — Senior Bailey Neises has been named the NSIC’s Wrestler of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

The Howard, South Dakota, native led the Vikings with a 2-0 record at 165 pounds in their two dual wins against Northwestern College and No. 10 ranked Upper Iowa.

Against Northwestern College, Neises won by a major decision over Andrew Null who is currently ranked fourth in the NAIA at 165 pounds after earning All-America honors last year.

In Sunday’s dual against Upper Iowa, Neises defeated Brock Benitz, a national qualifier from last season, in a 6-3 decision.

Overall, Neises is 10-5 (4-1 in duals) on the year with one fall, two major decisions and one tech fall.

Neises and the rest of the first-place Vikings return to action this weekend when they host the UMary Marauders and Minot State Beavers.
