Augustana and Sioux Falls Sports Authority Host Wrestling Championships Friday and Saturday

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Augustana University and the Sioux Falls Sports Authority are set to host the 2020 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championship Friday and Saturday inside the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center.

The championship will see 180 wrestlers from 51 institutions compete for national titles in 10 weight classes while a team champion will also be crowned. The Vikings have three wrestlers qualified for the event.

A total of four sessions will make up the event with 120 matches taking place over six mats in Session I beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday. Session II begins at 5 p.m. which will have 120 matches of first and second-round consolation bouts. The championship semifinals, third-round consolation, consolation semifinals along with the third, fifth and seventh-place matches begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The Championship Finals are at 7 p.m. Saturday night.

Official brackets will be released on Tuesday by the NCAA.

About the Sioux Falls Sports Authority
The Sioux Falls Sports Authority was formed in 2006 by community leaders to recruit major sporting events to the Sioux Falls area. The organization attracts international, national, regional and state sporting events by operating, leasing, enhancing or owning sports facilities in the Sioux Falls area. It is run by a board of directors made up of 15 community members, an executive director, and a project director.

About the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center
The Denny Sanford PREMIER Center is a multipurpose facility that houses sporting events, concerts, conventions, meetings, banquets and more. The building sets up to 12,000 for concerts and consists of four levels, including the event level, main concourse level, suite level, and upper concourse level. The facility also features 22 suites and 18 loge boxes.

Fans planning to attend the championships should be aware that the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center has a clear bag policy for all events. Opaque bags larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″ will not be permitted into the venue. Guests may enter the building with a clear one (1) gallon zipper-lock type bag or a clear stadium bag that is no larger than 12″ x 12″ x 6″. All bags are subject to search. Parking is free.
