Augustana Wrestling Signs Edward Hajas

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The Augustana wrestling team announced the signing of Delano, Minnesota, native Edward Hajas Wednesday afternoon. Hajas, the brother of Viking heavyweight national qualifier Steven Hajas, is currently a senior at Delano High School and will enroll as a freshman at Augustana in the fall of 2020.

“We are excited to have Edward join his brother, Steven, and the Augustana wrestling family,” head coach Jason Reitmeier said. “Edward is big, quick and athletic. He has a high ceiling, has always been a three-sport athlete, and once he starts training year-round he is going to make huge strides. Not only is Edward a great athlete, he is also a superstar in the classroom.”

Hajas mirrored Reitmeier’s praise during his senior year, taking fifth place at the state tournament and garnering Academic All-State honors. As a junior, Hajas took third-place at state and was the section 2AA Champion.

Hajas was born on Sept. 22, 2001, in Waconia, Minnesota, to parents Carol and Steve Hajas. His hobbies include riding dirt bikes and playing Super Smash Bros. Hajas is set to graduate from Delano High School in June and plans to major in data science at Augustana.
