South Dakota State wrestling coach Damion Hahn announced the addition of Marshall Hauck to the Jackrabbit roster after the 2020 Iowa state champion was accepted for admission to the university.
“Marshall is a great addition to our senior recruiting class,” Hahn said. “We are excited to bring him to Brookings and work with him to achieve his future goals.”
Hauck posted a 47-4 record for Lisbon High School en route to winning the Class 1A state title at 152 pounds during the recently completed season. Of his 47 wins, 25 were by fall. He also helped lead Lisbon to a state duals title and runner-up finish at the state tournament.
Previously, Hauck wrestled for Bishop Manogue High School in Reno, Nevada, where he recorded a fourth-place finish at the Class 4A state tournament in the 138-pound weight class as a junior.
Hauck’s family relocated to Iowa following his junior campaign and he quickly broke into the Iowa wrestling scene by notching a second-place finish in Greco-Roman competition and placing third in freestyle at the state championships during the summer club season.
Projected to wrestle at 165 pounds at the collegiate level, Hauck joins a 2020 Jackrabbit recruiting class that includes three other high school state champions. Joey Thompson (Maple Grove, Minnesota), Jack Thomsen (La Porte City, Iowa) and Lucus Anglin (Vermillion) all committed to SDSU during the fall signing period.
