College Recruiting: state champion Lyden to University of Minnesota

Hunter Lyden of Stillwater Area has committed to wrestling for University of Minnesota following his upcoming junior and senior seasons.

Lyden is a three-time state placewinner, winning the Class AAA 152-pound title in 2020 as a sophomore. He placed third at 138 pounds as a freshman and fifth at 120-pounds as an eighth-grader.

Lyden was a USA Wrestling Cadet freestyle All-American in 2019 and most recently placed fourth at 160 pounds at the prestigious Super 32 Tournament in October. He is No. 2 on The Guillotine’s latest Pound-For-Pound Class of 2022 Rankings.

Lyden is projected to wrestle at 165 or 174 pounds for the Golden Gophers.
