Two-time NCAA qualifier AJ Nevills will join the South Dakota State wrestling program as a graduate transfer for the 2021-22 season, Jackrabbit head coach Damion Hahn announced Tuesday.
“AJ brings a tremendous amount of talent with him to Brookings,” Hahn said. “He is a great addition to our team and we are excited to have him join us next season.”
A heavyweight from Clovis, California, Nevills reached the Big 12 Conference finals twice while wrestling for Fresno State. He posted a team-high 28 victories as a freshman during the 2017-18 season and added 24 wins during his sophomore season. Nevills, who has a 30-6 career record in duals, redshirted during the 2019-20 season.
Fresno State officials recently announced that the school plans to discontinue its wrestling program at the conclusion of the 2020-21 campaign.
