The next wave of Johnnies wrestlers will look to make an immediate impact this season. They will certainly get that chance because the Johnnies graduated eight seniors from last year's team that finished 12th out of 17th teams at the 2020 Upper Midwest Regional. In fact, a combination of five freshmen and three sophomores - many former Minnesota high school standouts - should see regular action in the Johnnies lineup throughout the season.
"We graduated eight seniors from last year's team and have no seniors on this year’s roster," says head coach Kevin Schlitz. "We're excited to see what the young guys can do on the mat. The team roster is growing and so is the talent level."
Freshmen from Minnesota looking to make an immediate impact include Jorge Hernandez (133/Le Sueur/Le Sueur-Henderson HS), Josh Clark (141/Fridley/Totino-Grace HS), Carter Entinger (149/Montrose/Watertown-Mayer HS), Dylan Hanson (149/Rogers/St. Michael-Albertville), Wareke Gillette (157/St. Peter), Logan Edwards (157/Prior Lake), and Hayden LeMonds (165/St. Michael/STMA).
