SCSU inks four student-athletes

St. Cloud, Minn. – St. Cloud State University head wrestling coach Steve Costanzo has announced the Huskies wrestling team’s 2021 recruiting class Wednesday with the addition of three high school standouts and one junior college standout.

The signees, who plan to enroll at SCSU next fall include Augustus Donovan, Anthony Herrera, Tyson Meyer, Nicholas Novak. “We look forward to bringing in these fine student-athletes to the Huskies wrestling program,” Costanzo said. “These young men are all outstanding students in the classroom and have displayed a lot of potential on the mat. We look forward to helping these individuals reach their full potential.”

Augustus Donovan | Richland Center, Wisc. | Richland Center High School – 157 pounds

One of the nation’s premiere NCAA Division II wrestling programs, St. Cloud State has won NCAA DII national titles in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019. SCSU finished the 2019-20 campaign with a 16-0, 8-0 NSIC record. The Huskies won the 2020 NCAA DII Super 5 Regional, the 2020 NWCA DII National Duals championship and claimed their ninth consecutive NSIC championship. SCSU was the nation’s top ranked team heading into the 2020 NCAA DII championships and had qualified nine wrestlers for nationals before the season was ended early due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

SCSU is slated to begin its six-match 2021 NSIC schedule on Jan. 7, 2021 with a dual match at University of Mary.
