Jones Ranked 6th at 125 in Preseason National Rankings; Dragon Wrestlers 25th

Minnesota State University Moorhead junior Cole Jones is ranked sixth at 125 pounds in the NCAA Division II Coaches Rankings released Friday by the National Wrestling Coaches Association. The Dragons are ranked 25th in the preseason poll with three athletes ranked.

Jones was All-American at 125 pounds in 2018-19 but missed the 2019-20 season with an injury. In 2018-19 Jones was 29-10 overall and in his two seasons competing as a Dragon, is 49-23. He’s led the team in wins both years.

Juniors Mason Schulz (20-17 in 2019-20) and Braydon Ortloff (12-9) were also ranked in their respective weight classes. Schulz is ranked 11th at 141 pounds while Ortloff, a national qualifier in 2019-20, is ranked 12th at 165.

NWCA NCAA DII Rankings

MSUM is scheduled to open the 2020-21 season on Jan. 7 at home against Southwest Minnesota State.
