Dragons Wrap Up Regular Season on Thursday Against Vikings

MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team is set for its final dual of the regular season when it travels to Augustana on Thursday. The dual begins at 7 p.m. on Feb. 11 in Sioux Falls, S.D.

MSUM is 1-2 overall and in the NSIC, while Augustana State is 2-3 overall.

The previous competition for the Dragon wrestling team was a tiebreaker victory against Minot State on Feb. 4. MSUM won the tiebreaker by scoring more total points in the match (65-64).

Junior Cole Jones won by major decision at 125 and is 2-1 and ranked 12th in the nation at 125. Junior Braydon Ortloff (3-0) won by major decision at 165 and is 3-0. Freshman Gage Roaldson won at 174 by major decision and is 4-0. Senior Steven Abbott and freshman Angel Rios each won by decision.

Kris Nelson is in his 12th season as the MSUM head coach.

The Vikings, coached by Jason Reitmeier are 2-3 on the season after their loss to Upper Iowa University on Feb. 4. Cade Mueller is 4-1 at 174 while Hunter Burnett is 3-1 and ranked No. 8 in the nation at 149. Reitmeier is in his 17th season as head coach at Augustana University. He has become the most winningest coach in Augustana history, with over 191 career dual victories.
