Manheim, PA – On Monday, the National Wrestling Coaches Association announced the 2021 Scholar All-American individual honorees for NCAA Division III with awards going to 413 individuals representing 84 institutions.
“In what has been a trying season for all, I’m excited to recognize these talented athletes who stayed the course in the classroom and continued their pursuit of excellence as they work toward their degrees,” said NWCA Executive Director Mike Moyer. “The NWCA and our Board of Directors remain committed to honoring outstanding academic performance and would like to thank the coaches, support staff, and administrators at these institutions for their commitment to their student-athletes .”
This season, due to COVID-19 protocols that kept many conferences and their teams sidelined, the Division III Leadership Group was moved to make changes to this year’s awards program. Most notably, the team component has been suspended until next season with recognition going to individuals only. It was also decided that athletes unable to compete this season would be eligible for nomination and could receive All-America status.
For the second year in a row, Washington & Lee University led the list of honorees with 16 All-Americans. Rochester Institute of Technology, Stevens Institute of Technology, the United States Coast Guard Academy, and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire each had 11 honorees while Baldwin Wallace University, Wabash College, and York College each posted ten individuals.
