College Recruiting: four-time state champion Berge to South Dakota State University

Bennett Berge of Kasson-Mantorville has committed to wrestling for South Dakota State University following his upcoming senior season.

Berge is a four-time state champion. He won the Class AA 182-pound title in 2021 as a junior, the 170-pound title as a sophomore, the 160-pound title as a freshman, and the 138-pound title as an eighth-grader.

Berge was a USA Wrestling Cadet Freestyle national champion in 2019 and was a Junior Freestyle fourth-place finisher last month. He was runner-up at the prestigious Super 32 Tournament this past October and was a Minnesota Christmas Tournament champion in 2019.

Berge is No. 1 on The Guillotine’s latest Pound-For-Pound Class of 2022 Rankings.

Berge is projected to wrestle at 184 pounds for the Jackrabbits.
