The Golden Gophers will host six home duals in Maturi Pavilion this upcoming season
MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Minnesota wrestling program released this season’s full schedule on Wednesday morning, as the Gopher campaign begins Nov. 13 and will feature six home duals at Maturi Pavilion in Minnesota’s sixth year under head coach Brandon Eggum.
Start times, TV and streaming coverage, single-game and season tickets will all be announced at a later date. The 2021-22 wrestling schedule is subject to change.
The Gophers will see its first action at the year at the Bison Open in Fargo, N.D., on Nov. 13, while the first dual of the season will see another rendition of a storied college wrestling rivalry, as the Maroon & Gold will square off against Oklahoma State in a home showdown on Nov. 20.
Following the home dual, Minnesota will head back on the road for a quick turnaround at the Daktronics Open in Brookings, S.D., on Nov. 21, before returning back to Maturi Pavilion to take on the South Dakota State Jackrabbits on Nov. 28.
The Gophers’ longest road trip of the 2021-22 campaign will take place on Dec. 3-4 as they travel to Las Vegas, Nevada to participate in the Cliff Keen Invitational, a tournament in which Gable Steveson and Brayton Lee both have won in previous years.
Conference action will begin after the holiday break, as Minnesota will begin on the road against Iowa on Jan. 7.
Minnesota will then host their longest homestand of the schedule, battling against Northwestern on Jan. 9, before hosting a conference doubleheader against Nebraska and Wisconsin Jan. 14 and Jan. 16.
The Maroon & Gold will then face a three-dual road trip against Michigan (Jan. 28), Illinois (Feb. 4), and Purdue (Feb. 6), before returning home for the final dual of the season as they host Ohio State on Feb. 11.
The Big Ten Tournament is scheduled to take place in Lincoln, Neb., in Pinnacle Bank Arena on March 5-6.
The NCAA Tournament will be held at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich., on March 17-19.
