Webster joins Gopher Wrestling Club

MINNEAPOLIS – Former Minnesota 184-pounder Owen Webster has joined the Gopher Wrestling Club RTC, as announced by the club on Thursday morning.

Webster finished his career as a Gopher this past March as a two-time NCAA Qualifier and a three-time letterwinner in the Maroon & Gold. He posted a 48-30 career record and holds the record for the fastest pin in program history at 11 seconds.

The 2020-21 season proved to be a breakout season for Webster, as he posted four ranked wins on the shortened season, including three consecutive victories over the No. 10, No. 15, and No. 7 ranked wrestlers. The Shakopee, Minn., native reached as high as 10th in the national rankings last season.

Webster will now join an RTC club roster that includes former Gophers Tony Nelson, Zach Sanders, and Brett Pfarr. Gopher Wrestling Club is led by former Minnesota national champion and 2009 World Team member Dustin Schlatter.
