Burroughs, Cox, Gilman qualify for semifinals, Gwiazdowski to go for bronze at Senior Worlds in Norway

OSLO, Norway – The United States continued its powerful men’s freestyle wrestling on day two of the Senior World Championships on Sunday morning, pushing three more wrestlers into the semifinal round.

Qualifying for the semifinals from Group Two were 2012 Olympic champion and four-time World champion Jordan Burroughs at 79 kg, 2016 Olympic bronze medalist and two-time World champion J’den Cox at 92 kg and 2020 Olympic bronze medalist and 2017 World silver medalist Thomas Gilman at 57 kg.

Burroughs opened with an explosive, efficient 10-0 technical fall victory over Samuel Barnish of Canada. He scored a double leg and a turn, then blasted a four-point takedown to lead 8-0. One more double leg takedown ended the match. Continue reading at teamusa.org →
