Matchups set for 2021 Black and Red Classic

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – The starting lineups have been set for tonight’s 2021 Black and Red Classic, highlighted by five nationally-ranked wrestlers scheduled for bouts on Thursday evening. 11 matches will take place, running through the 10 weight classes along with one exhibition. The Black and Red is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. CST with free admission to Halenbeck Hall and will be live-streamed on the NSIC Network.

The Black Team consists of Paxton Creese (125), Daniel Valeria (133), and No. 1 Joseph Bianchini (141) at the lower weights while Nicholas Novak (149), No. 3 Colby Njos (157), and Jared Head (165) anchor the middleweights. Dominic Murphy (174), No. 8 Billy Pitzner (184), No. 5 Noah Ryan (197), and reigning NCAA Champion No. 2 Kameron Teacher (285) round out the upper weights. Two-time All-American Matt Nelson (17′) is the honorary coach for Team Black.

Nic Cantu (125), Nate Rocheleau (133), and Cameron Riggs (141) occupy the lower weights for the Red Team. The middleweights feature Blake Legred (149), Jake Barzowski (157), and Anthony Herrera (165). Tyson Meyer (174), Cade Linn (184), Isaac Grams (197), and Kaleb Haase (285) close things out at the upper weights. 2020-21 St. Cloud State Male Athlete of the Year Devin FitzPatrick serves as the Red Team’s honorary coach.

There will be one additional match on the schedule as Owen Bjerga and Tyson Meyer square off for the Black and Red teams respectively.
