Snyder qualifies for semifinals, Green falls in quarterfinals at Senior Worlds in Norway

OSLO, Norway – The final two U.S. men’s freestyle wrestlers started their competition on Monday at the Senior World Wrestling Championships. 2016 Olympic champion and 2020 Olympic silver medalist Kyle Snyder has advanced into the semifinals at 97 kg after two technical fall victories.

Snyder opened up with a 14-4 technical fall over Batzul Uluziisaikhan of Mongolia. Snyder jumped out to a 7-0 lead on an activity clock call against Uluziisaikhan and three straight takedowns. Uluziisaikhan scored a takedown, but Snyder answered with one of his own to make it 9-2. After Uluziisaikhan closed it to 9-4 on a takedown, Snyder reversed him and added a turn to make it 12-4. A final Snyder takedown closed out the technical fall.

In the quarterfinals, Snyder kept on the pressure in an 11-0 technical fall over Magomedgadji Nurov of North Macedonia. He led 3-0 at the break with a takedown and step out.
