Mavericks Rated Second in NSIC Preseason Wrestling Poll

Mankato, Minn. — The Minnesota State wrestling team has been picked to finish second in the 2021-22 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Wrestling Coaches’ Poll.

The Mavericks garnered a total of 68 points and one first-place vote in the poll. St. Cloud State topped the poll with 81 points and nine first-place votes.

Senior Kyle Rathman was named Minnesota State’s Athlete to Watch for the upcoming season. A three-time All-American, the Apple Valley, Minn., native went 12-2 in 2020-21 and placed seventh at last year’s NCAA Division II tournament. Rathman, who stands 69-21 for his college career is a three-time NSIC All-Academic selection.

Minnesota State opens its season this weekend, sending wrestlers to the Yellow Jacket Open in Rochester, Minn., Saturday. Minnesota State’s 2021-22 schedule is located HERE.
