MSUM Wrestlers Set for Bison Open

MOORHEAD, Minn. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team is back in action on Saturday at the Bison Open in Fargo, N.D. MSUM will send a small contingent of attached wrestlers to compete at the event.

MSUM’s first dual of the year is scheduled for Nov. 17 at Concordia.

The Dragons sent five attached wrestlers to the Cobber Open last Saturday and four placed.

A runner-up finish by freshman Clayson Mele led the way for MSUM.

Mele was second at 125 in the Maroon Division, going 2-1. He pinned Zane Almon of Itasca Community College in 4:51 and followed with a pin over Owen Bertram of Concordia in 6:35. He lost to UMary’s Chase Milligan, 18-10 in his final match.

Sophomore Peyton Ringling was third at 157 in the Maroon Division, going 4-1. Sophomore Samuel Grove, wrestling up a division at 285, was 2-2, and placed fifth in the Gold Division. Senior Steven Abbott was fourth in the Gold Division at 197 pounds after going 2-2.
