No. 1 Huskies welcome No. 14 Storm to Halenbeck in first dual of the season

St. Cloud, Minn. – No. 1 St. Cloud State Wrestling meets No. 14 Lake Erie this Saturday, November 20th in the Huskies’ first dual of the 2021-22 season. The first bout is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CST with coverage available on TrackWrestling and the NSIC Network. As a Military Night, all veterans and military members along with one guest will receive free admission while the first 100 fans in attendance will receive a free Huskies Wrestling schedule poster.

SCSU last faced the Storm at the 2018 NWCA National Duals, earning a massive 46-0 win over LEC in their first match of the tournament. The Huskies enter the season having won 69 straight duals, an NCAA DII record.

The Huskies begin their third-straight NCAA Championship defense after a pair of excellent showings at the Finn Grinaker and Dakota Wesleyan Opens. 15 wrestlers earned titles across the two opens along with 31 top-three finishes.

Five NWCA-ranked wrestlers occupy spots the Huskies’ probable lineup, with a signature tilt at 197 between No. 5 Noah Ryan and No. 6 Chris Droege in a rematch of last year’s seventh-place bout at the NCAA Championships. Ryan pinned Droege at 2:17 to score critical bonus points for SCSU on their way to the program’s fifth National Championship.
