Augustana Moves Up to No. 10 in the NWCA D2 Poll

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.– Augustana wrestling has moved to No. 10 in the Division II NWCA Wrestling Rankings, announced Friday. The Vikings were previously ranked at 15 in the poll’s Dec. 3 release. Six individuals are ranked for Augustana.

Augustana had a slew of victories in December over ranked opponents. The Vikings defeated the No. 9 Upper Iowa Peacocks at the Elmen Center on Dec. 3. A few weeks later, Augustana traveled to Mankato, Minnesota, for a matchup with the No. 10 Minnesota State Mavericks. The bout saw eight wrestlers claiming victories in the 26-3 win for the Vikings.

Jaxson Rohman is ranked at No. 5 at 125 pounds. Rohman earns his first national ranking in the latest release. The freshman from Trimont, Minnesota, went 3-0 in December defeating opponents from Upper Iowa, Division I North Dakota State, and Minnesota State.

Jack Huffman is ranked in the seventh spot at 133 pounds. Huffman notched a victory over Division I North Dakota State opponent on December 15 and defeated Minnesota State’s Tanner Cook on December 19.

Brandon Carroll rounds out the rankings for the 141-pound bracket at No. 12. Carroll claimed his first victory of the season at 141 pounds against Kolbe O’Brien of Minnesota State.

Cade Mueller, competing at 174 pounds, is ranked at No. 7. Mueller claimed two victories in December and garnered NSIC Wrestler of the Week honors after a victory over No. 2 Trevor Turriff of Minnesota State.

Kolby Kost moves in at No. 11at 184 pounds. Kost defeated North Dakota State’s Michael Nelson by way of 5-2 decision on December 4.

Steven Hajas is ranked at No. 7 in the 285-pound bracket.


Augustana is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Hastings Open. Dual action resumes on Thursday, Jan. 13, as the Vikings travel to Northern State. AU is next at home on Jan. 15, hosting Southwest Minnesota State.
