Turriff, Rathman & McManus Ranked in Top 10
Mankato, Minn. — Minnesota State is rated tenth in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Poll announced Friday, Dec. 3.
Minnesota State has three individuals who are rated in the top 10 individual rankings.
Senior Trevor Turriff (174 lbs.), who stands at 42-14 for his career and finished second at last year’s NCAA DII national championships, is rated second.
Senior Kyle Rathman (149 lbs.), a three-time All-American who owns a 69-21 career mark, is rated fourth.
Senior Trenton McManus (125 lbs.), who earned All-American honors last year with an eighth-place finish, is rated eighth.
Now in his 33rd season of college coaching, Jim Makovsky has built a 294-121-3 mark with the Mavericks and is closing in on the school record for wrestling coaching wins held by Rummy Macias, who was 299-207-12 in his 38 years with the program from 1959-88.
Minnesota State is sending individuals to the Jim Koch Open at UW-Parkside this weekend.
