No. 2 SCSU goes 3-0 at The Carolina Clash

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 2 St. Cloud State Wrestling swept their three duals at the inaugural Carolina Clash on Saturday, upending No. 4 West Liberty 26-12, No. 18 UNC-Pembroke 33-6, and RV Lander 31-13. 10 Huskies went undefeated throughout the day while four wrestlers picked up wins over ranked opponents. The three wins advance the Huskies’ dual win streak to an NCAA DII-record 73 straight.

SPOTLIGHT PERFORMANCES: Paxton Creese recorded a massive 6-5 win over No. 2 Nick Daggatt (UNC-Pembroke) at 125 in a thrilling bout to open the Huskies’ second match. No. 5 Noah Ryan defeated two ranked opponents in No. 8 Bryce Walker (UNC-Pembroke) and No. 10 Logan Kemp (West Liberty). No. 1 Joseph Bianchini went 3-0 with three bonus-point wins at 149 while No. 3 Colby Njos (157), No. 6 Garrett Vos (141), and No. 9 Billy Pitzner (184) each were 2-0 with two bonus victories of their own. No. 8 Devin Donovan had a strong showing at 165, going 2-0 with a 15-3 major decision over No. 11 Gage Bernall (Lander).

“We had several individuals perform very well today,” said St. Cloud State Coach Steve Costanzo. “We need to continue improving on the little things and good things will come!”

UP NEXT: The Huskies begin their NSIC schedule next week with a dual at UW-Parkside on Friday, December 10.
