MOORHEAD, Minn. – Seniors Braydon Ortloff and Justin Dravis each posted runner-up finishes in the Red Division and freshman Gage Roaldson won the title in the White Division to lead the Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team at the Dragon Open, which was held Sunday at Nemzek Fieldhouse.

Ortloff opened with a 7-4 win over SMSU’s Nathan Moore at 165, and then edged North Dakota State’s Mason Gode, 7-5 in overtime. Ortloff fell to Michael Caliendo of NDSU in the finals 19-8.
Dravis beat Minot State’s Isaac Bertalotto by tech fall 18-0 to open his day at 174. He followed with a pin of UMary’s Riley Mitchell in 3:45 before losing to Shaeden Scheidt of St. Cloud State 7-0 in the finals.
Junior Cole Jones was fourth at 133, going 1-2. He beat Concordia’s Jake Nohre 7-5 but lost to SMSU’s Hunter Pfantz 17-11 and Concordia’s Ty B
Sophomore Samuel Grove opened with a 6-5 win over SMSU’s Jacob Dykes, who is ranked 14th in the nation, at 285 before losing to Northern State’s Joshua Trumble, 4-1. He beat Michael Loyola of Northern State by medical forfeit before being pinned by NDSU’s Cole Gripka in 6:44 in the third-place match.
Senior Steven Abbott was fifth at 197. He had a first-round bye and then beat St. John’s wrestler Levi Henry by tech fall, 16-0. He was pinned by Marcus Placide of Northern State in the semifinals and then lost to Isaac Grams of St. Cloud State by fall in 1:50. He won the fifth-place match by medical forfeit.
White Division
Gage Roaldson won the title at 184. He pinned Concordia’s Ross Meskinmen in 5:19 and then edged Ridgewater’s Maxwell Whitney 3-2. In the finals, he topped St. Cloud State’s Tyson Meyer 9-4 to cap off a 3-0 day.
Hunter Hayes was second at 133, losing his first match to St. Cloud State’s Alyeus Craig, 11-0 before bouncing back with a pin of Minnesota West’s Ayden Rienhardt. Hayes won his next match by medical forfeit before edging Concordia’s Daniel Monnatukwa 13-10.
