Dragon Wrestlers Fall at UMary, 41-0 to Open NSIC Dual Season

BISMARCK, N.D. – The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team dropped a 41-0 dual to the University of Mary in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action Thursday night in Bismarck, N.D.

MSUM fell to 0-2 overall and 0-1 in the NSIC with the loss while UMary improved to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in the NSIC.

The Dragons were pinned three times and gave up major decisions at two other weights.

“I felt like we had a good week of practice and were coming off of a solid Dragon Open on Sunday,” MSUM head coach Kris Nelson said. “We came out flat in most matches and they beat us to the punch. They are a good team that wrestled more aggressive than us from 125 to 285.”

Declan Malone led early in his match at 149 but Trevor Fauver rallied for a 9-4. Gage Roaldson also battled tough at 184 before falling 9-5.

MSUM will compete at the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis, Ind., on Dec. 18-19.
