Minnesota State Rated 17th in NCAA DII NWCA Poll

​Rathman, Turriff, McManus, and Mason Ranked in Top 10

Mankato, Minn. — Minnesota State is rated 17th in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Poll announced Friday, Jan. 21.

Minnesota State has four individuals who are rated in the top 10 individual rankings.
Senior Kyle Rathman (149 lbs.), a three-time All-American who owns a 72-22 career mark, is rated fifth.

Senior Trevor Turriff (174 lbs.), who stands 49-16 for his career and finished second at last year’s NCAA DII national championships, is rated eighth.

Senior Trenton McManus (125 lbs.), who earned All-American honors last year with an eighth-place finish, is rated tenth.

Junior Darrell Mason (285 lbs.), who stands 7-0 on the season, is rated tenth.


Now in his 33rd season of college coaching, Jim Makovsky has built a 294-122-3 mark with the Mavericks and is closing in on the school record for wrestling coaching wins held by Rummy Macias, who was 299-207-12 in his 38 years with the program from 1959-88.
