No. 2 Huskies see nine wrestlers ranked in third NWCA poll

ST. CLOUD, Minn. – No. 2 St. Cloud State Wrestling yet again leads all NCAA DII programs in ranked wrestlers, as the third regular-season NWCA poll released on Friday recognized nine SCSU student-athletes. Eight of the nine ranked wrestlers are in the top eight, six are top-five and five are in the top three. No. 3 Nebraska-Kearney also has nine ranked wrestlers, sharing the Huskies’ leading mark.

Joseph Bianchini remains the No. 1 wrestler at 141, joined in the top-three by No. 2 Kameron Teacher (HWT), No. 2 Noah Ryan (197), No. 2 Colby Njos (157), and No. 3 Garrett Vos (133). Dominic Murphy is ranked fifth at 174, while 125-pounder Paxton Creese and 184-pounder Billy Pitzner each rose to No. 7. Devin Donovan rounds out the Huskies’ ranked wrestlers by holding the No. 12 spot at 165.

With the individual placement points, St. Cloud State earned the No. 2 spot in the Top 25, just three points behind Central Oklahoma. Nebraska-Kearney, West Liberty, and McKendree round out the top five in order.


The Huskies will compete at the North Country Open this Sunday, then return to NSIC action at home on Thursday with No. 15 Upper Iowa.
