MOORHEAD, Minn. — The Minnesota State University Moorhead wrestling team is on the road this week with a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference matchups. MSUM is at Minnesota State, Mankato for a 7 p.m. dual on Friday, and then is at Upper Iowa at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
The Dragons are 0-6 on the dual season and 0-5 in the NSIC after losing to top 10 teams Augustana and Parkside last weekend.
Freshman Gage Roaldson had a pin at 184 against Augustana, while junior Cole Jones was the sole win for the Dragons with a decision victory over Parkside’s Joe Roti.
Jones is 9-6 to lead the Dragons while senior Braydon Ortloff is 4-4 at 165. Roaldson is also 4-4.
Kris Nelson is in his 13th season as head coach at Minnesota State University Moorhead.
About No. 18 Minnesota State Mankato
The No. 18 Mavericks are 1-2 on the dual season and 1-2 in the NSIC after losing to UMary last weekend. MSU has a pair of wrestlers ranked in the top 10 in the nation, including No. 10 Kyle Rathman (4-1) at 149 and Trevor Turriff (9-2) at 174. Jim Makovsky is in his 29th season as head coach at Minnesota State Mankato.
About Upper Iowa
The Peacocks are 3-4 overall and 0-2 in the NSIC. They will face Northern State prior to facing MSUM. Sophomore Chase Luensman is 13-3 and ranked eighth at 157 pounds for MSUM. Kaden Anderlik is 11-2 at 133 and is 13th rankings nationally for Upper Iowa while Eric Faught is 10-2. Heath Grimm is in his 22nd season as the Upper Iowa head coach.
