Stauffacher earns NSIC Wrestler of the Week

BURNSVILLE, Minn. — Southwest Minnesota State University’s Jackson Stauffacher has been named Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Wrestler of the Week. The announcement came from the league office in Burnsville, Minn., on Monday afternoon.

Stauffacher, a junior from Belle Plaine, Minn., went 2-0 last week, opening his weekend by defeating No. 3-ranked (No. 1 Intermat ranked) Joe Arroyo of Parkside 5-3 in sudden victory after trailing 3-1 going into the third period. He capped off his weekend in style, defeating Tanner Cook of Minnesota State by fall at 6:35, helping the Mustangs defeat MSU for the first time since 2014 and the second time since 1990. He improved to 10-2 on the season with three pins, one major decision, and six wins by decision.

This marks the first time in his career that he has earned honor and is the second Mustang this season.

Southwest Minnesota State returns to action on Feb. 26 for the NCAA Super Regionals in Moorhead.
