Vikings Move Up to No. 9 in Latest NWCA Rankings

SIOUX FALLS. S.D.– Augustana wrestling moved up one spot to No. 9 in the latest NWCA Division II Rankings. The Vikings were previously ranked at No. 10 in the Jan. 21 release of the poll. Three Viking wrestlers are individually ranked in the national poll.

Since the release of the last rankings, Augustana has competed in five duals. AU defeated four conference opponents, including two nationally ranked, to notch a second-place regular-season finish.

Cade Mueller is ranked at No. 2 in the latest NWCA rankings at 174 pounds. Mueller holds a dual record of 8-2 this season and an overall record of 15-3. Mueller is also regionally ranked at No. 1.

Jack Huffman, competing at 133 pounds for Augustana, is ranked at No. 5 in the latest release. Huffman was previously ranked at No. 6. Huffman has defeated opponents from Minot State, UMary, and Parkside since the last release. Huffman is also regionally ranked at No. 3.

In the eighth spot at 197 pounds is Daniel Bishop. This is Bishop’s first national ranking of the season. With wins over MSU Moorhead, UMary, and Parkside opponents, Bishop holds a dual record of 6-5 this season. He is also regionally ranked at No. 2.

Seven wrestlers are regionally ranked for Augustana with No. 4 Jaxson Rohman at 125 pounds, No. 4 Brandon Carroll at 141 pounds, No. 5 Hunter Burnett at 149 pounds, No. 6 Tyler Wagener at 157 pounds, No. 3 Miles Fitzgerald at 165 pounds, No. 4 Kolby Kost at 184 pounds and No. 4 Steven Hajas at 285 pounds.
