St. Louis, Mo. — A pair of Minnesota State wrestlers have advanced to the final day of action at the 2022 NCAA Division II Championships in St. Louis, Mo.
Senior Trevor Turriff (De Pere, Wis.), seeded fourth in the 174-lb. division, picked up a major decision (11-3) over Brock Biddle of Pitt-Johnstown before downing Ty McGeary of West Liberty, 7-2. Now 20-3 on the season, Turriff squares-off against #1-seeded Austin Eldredge of Nebraska-Kearney in a semi-final matchup tomorrow.
Junior Darrell Mason (Chicago, Ill.), seeded second, decisioned Freddie Nixon of Gannon, 5-2, in his first-round match and then defeated A.J. Cooper of Fort Hays State 8-4 to stay perfect on the year with a 20-0 record. Mason faces third-seeded Shawn Streck of Central Oklahoma in the semi-finals tomorrow.
Session II begins Saturday starting at 10:00 a.m. with the championships semifinals, third-round consolation, consolation semis, and third, fifth and seventh-place matches. The championship finals start at 7:00 p.m.
