MINNEAPOLIS – Several current Gopher wrestlers will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada this weekend as they are set to compete at the 2022 U.S Open Championships at the South Point Hotel and Casino.
Freestyle action begins on Thursday, April 28 through Sunday, April 1st with the entire tournament being streamed on FloWrestling.
Michael Blockhus and Jared Krattiger headline the group of eleven Gophers as they each will compete in the senior level competition on Saturday.
Blockhus most recently competed in freestyle competition last off-season when he placed seventh at UWW Senior Nationals at 70 kilograms, while Krattiger is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Bill Farrell Open at 79 kilograms earlier this month.
Nine Gophers will compete in the U20 division as well, which begins on Thursday, as Blaine Brenner, Jager Eisch, Ben Lunn, Gabe Nagel, Drew Roberts, Sam Skillings, Andrew Sparks, Bennett Tabor, and Vance VomBaur are all scheduled to compete.
