MANHEIM, Pa. — South Dakota State was honored Friday by the National Wrestling Coaches Association with a Top 30 Scholar Team All-America award, and six Jackrabbits were recognized individually for their work in the classroom.
SDSU, which received the team recognition for the second season in a row, ranked seventh among NCAA Division I programs with a 3.465 grade-point average. The Jackrabbits were one of four Big 12 Conference teams to rank in the top 10.
The team GPA is calculated among the eligible student-athletes who competed at their conference qualifying tournament, along with two other wrestlers who competed during the 2021-22 season.
The list of individual NWCA Scholar All-America honorees for the Jackrabbits was led by repeat selections Clay Carlson and Cade DeVos, both of whom were NCAA qualifiers this past season. A third honoree, A.J. Nevills, also competed at nationals in March.
Rounding out the list of Jackrabbit award recipients were Daniel Kimball, Cade King, and Kenny O’Neill.
