Seven Viking Wrestlers Earn NWCA Scholar All-America Honors

MANHEIM, Penn. — The Augustana wrestling team has earned the 19th-best team GPA in the nation at 3.158 and NWCA Division II Scholar All-America honors.

In addition to team honors, the Vikings also had seven wrestlers earn individual Scholar All-America honors – Daniel Bishop, Hunter Burnett, Jack Huffman, Kage Lenger, Cade Mueller, Jaxson Rohman, and Tyler Wagener.

In order for a student-athlete to be nominated to the Division II Scholar All-American Team, he must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale, with that benchmark at 3.25 for those who qualified for the 2022 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships and 3.0 for those who earned NCAA DII All-American status for the 2022 season. The athlete must also have competed in a minimum of four dates of competition.

Wrestlers from 57 of the 65 NCAA DII institutions earned Scholar All-American honors. Augustana ranked fourth out of the NSIC teams and fifth in the Super Region 5. Super Region 5 led with 68 student-athletes honored, with Super Region 4 following with 63 wrestlers. Of the 314 honorees, 95 wrestled at the 2022 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships and 71 were 2022 All-Americans.
