Bishop Earns CoSIDA Academic All-America Honors

AUSTIN, Texas.–Augustana senior wrestler Daniel Bishop has been recognized on the 2021-22 CoSIDA Division II Academic All-America At-Large Second Team, CoSIDA announced Tuesday.

The at-large program for the CoSIDA Academic All-America® program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women; bowling, crew and field hockey for women; and volleyball and wrestling for men.

Bishop graduated in May of 2022 with a master’s degree in sports administration and leadership. He previously completed his undergraduate degree in psychology with a GPA of 3.94. He becomes the eighth Augustana wrestler in program history to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.

The Sioux City, Iowa, native is well-represented in the Augustana wrestling record book, holding the program record for career technical falls with 33. Bishop also sees three spots on the single-season technical fall record rankings: 11 in 2018-19, 10 in 2021-22 and seven in 2019-20. He also earned NSCA All-America honors and NWCA Scholar All-America honors. Bishop went 19-8 this season while also named the NSIC Elite 18 award winner.
