FARGO, N.D. – North Dakota State wrestling will have five Bison competing at the 2022 U23 and U20 World Team Trials this weekend from June 4-5 in Geneva, Ohio at the Spire Institute. Four Bison will be competing as part of the U23 event, with one Bison set to compete at the U20 level (formerly known as UWW Junior Nationals).
DJ Parker, who just finished up his freshman season with the Bison, will be the lone NDSU wrestler competing at the U20 level, as he will wrestle in the 86kg division for Freestyle on Saturday.
On Saturday and Sunday, Bison wrestlers McGwire Midkiff (61kg), Kellyn March (65kg), Gabriel Schumm (70kg), and Mannix Morgan (79kg) will compete at the U23 level in Freestyle.
The event features competition for U20 (JR) age athletes (Born 2002-2005) and U23 age athletes (Born 1999-2004) in Men’s Freestyle and Greco-Roman. The champion in each U20 (JR) and U23 weight class qualifies to represent the United States at the 2022 UWW World Championships.
Top eight (8) place winners in the U20 division who are age-eligible qualify for the Junior National Championships held in Fargo, ND on July 15-22, 2022.
