Mankato, Minn. — An open house to celebrate the 100th birthday of Minnesota State wrestling legend Rummy Macias is set for Oct. 17 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. at the Loose Moose in downtown Mankato.
Inducted into the Minnesota State Athletics Hall of Fame in 1982, Macias got the Maverick wrestling program started in 1950 and coached for 38 years until his retirement in 1988. One of the all-time winningest coaches in the history of college wrestling, his overall record with Minnesota State was 299-207-12.
