Quotables – St. Cloud State head coach Steve Costanzo

“It was fun. It was like déjà vu when we came through the door here – it’s hard to believe we’re already back for another season of wrestling – it was great, I’m excited!”

“I’m a guy that likes it when guys are scoring a lot of points. I go back to Abner Romero’s match, him going out there and getting a takedown, getting back points and eventually the technical fall. Heck of a performance on his part against a really solid Mac Copeland.”

“We just want to get better from week to week. If we can do that, then I can be happy. I just want to see progress. Next week we get the opportunity to wrestle some other guys besides our teammates, and I think that’s going to be exciting.”

On Clint Poster and Tyler Pasvogel serving as honorary coaches… “It was great to see them. Clint came into the wrestling room and rolled around with the guys before the match. To introduce the winningest wrestler in school history to everyone – and of course Tyler was super vocal, coaching the guys up. Both guys are tremendous individuals to our program and mean a lot to us.”

On the Black & Red crowd… “Oh, absolutely – we had a nice crowd, parents travelled from a long way away to see their kids. It’s great – and it’s great to see our kids appreciate their parents making such long trips to see them wrestle.”
