Auggies rally for 19-15 win over Blugolds

MINNEAPOLIS — Trailing 12-3 after the opening four bouts, the No. 2-ranked Augsburg University men’s wrestling team rallied with five wins in the last six bouts to secure a 19-15 dual-meet victory on Saturday afternoon at Si Melby Hall.

Starting the match at 165 pounds, the Auggies dropped three of their first four bouts to fall behind 12-3, with only No. 7-ranked 184-pounder Bentley Schwanebeck-Ostermann (JR, Loyal, Wis./Marshfield HS) getting a victory, a 6-2 triumph over No. 15-ranked Niall Schoenfelder. The Auggie comeback kicked into gear when No. 3-ranked 285-pounder Tyler Kim (JR, Burnsville, Minn./Apple Valley HS) converted a third-period escape and a takedown with 33 seconds left for a 3-0 win over Jackson Schichel. Turning over to 125, Wyatt Kaczrowski (SO, Seymour, Wis./Seymour HS) built a 3-0 lead after two periods and held on for a 4-2 win over Carter Schulz to cut the Blugold lead to 12-9.
