Dragon wrestling will take to the road once again this weekend, this time heading to Mitchell, S.D. to take part in the DWU Open hosted by Dakota Wesleyan University. The open tournament will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
The Dragons are currently 1-0 in dual competition after defeating the University of Jamestown last weekend. The dual win was highlighted by fall wins from 125-pounder Clayson Mele and 141-pounder Parker Benz. MSUM won the dual 23-16 over the Jimmies on Friday before competing in the Jimmie Open the following day.
At the Jimmie Open, the Dragons had one unattached champion at 165 pounds while Mele finished with runner-up honors at 125 pounds. Samuel Grove also took home runner-up honors at 197 pounds for the Dragons in the open. Anthony Castro took third at 174 pounds for MSUM as well.
