BURNSVILLE, Minn. — The Minnesota State wrestling team has been ranked seventh in the 2022-23 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Wrestling Coaches’ Poll.
The Mavericks accumulated 36 points in the poll. St. Cloud State led the poll with 81 points and received a total of nine first-place votes.
The 2021-22 NSIC Wrestler of the Year and Minnesota State’s own, Darrell Mason, was named the NSIC Preseason Wrestler of the Year by league coaches for this upcoming season. Mason, a senior from Chicago, Ill., finished his season last year with a perfect record of 22-0 as the 2022 NCAA DII Individual Champion in the 285-pound weight class. Mason was also awarded the 2021-22 NWCA DII Wrestler of the Year award.
Minnesota State’s season gets underway this Saturday starting with the Yellow Jacket Open in Rochester, Minn. The Maverick’s 2022-23 full schedule can be found HERE.
