Mustangs return to the mat Saturday in Mitchell for Dakota Wesleyan Open

MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team continues action this Saturday in Mitchell, S.D., for the Dakota Wesleyan Open.

SMSU second-year head coach Chayse Jackson expects 19 athletes to compete at the open which is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

The Mustangs had seven participants at the RCTC Yellowjacket Open last Saturday in Rochester, Minn. Joseph Anderson and Tallin Johnson both finished 2-2 at the meet, while Brandon Lalla, Jake Messner, and Tyler Soltau each earned one victory.

Following Saturday, SMSU will compete in two more opens, at Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday, Nov. 19, and at MSU Moorhead on Saturday, Dec. 3.

The Mustangs will open their NSIC dual season at home on Friday, Dec. 9, against Northern State at 7 p.m.
