No. 8 Augustana Wrestling Defeats SFSU, No. 18 WCU at Chadron Duals

CHADRON, Neb.–No. 8 Augustana wrestling earned two wins over San Francisco State and No. 18 Western Colorado at the Chadron Duals on Sunday. The Vikings move to 2-2 in dual action in 2022-23.

Augustana 27, San Francisco State 14
Jaxson Rohman, nationally ranked fifth at 125 pounds, saw victories in both of his matches at the Chadron Duals. Rohman used three takedowns, a reversal and added a point for riding time to earn a 9-4 decision victory over his opponent from San Francisco State.

Kage Lenger brought down his opponent in a 10-8 decision victory at 141 pounds. Lenger tallied two takedowns, one four-point nearfall and added two escape points in the win.

Miles Fitzgerald, ranked nationally at No. 7, earned two wins at the Chadron Duals against opponents from SF State and WCU. Fitzgerald scored three points with a takedown and an escape in a 3-1 decision win in his first match of the day.

Tyler Wagener garnered two wins on the day with a fall in his first match against SF State. The junior had one takedown and a four-point nearfall before besting his opponent with a fall at 1:01.

Jacob Tvinnereim was victorious in his match against his SFSU opponent at 174 pounds. Tvinnereim claimed the 9-4 decision win with a four-point nearfall and two escape points.

Cade Mueller went 2-0 at the Chadron Duals at 184 pounds. Mueller pinned his SF State opponent in the first period. Prior to the fall, Mueller garnered three takedowns and a four-point nearfall.

At 197 pounds, Zach Peterson defeated his SFSU opponent by way of an 8-2 decision. Peterson totaled two takedowns, two penalty points, an escape point and a point for riding time.

Augustana 25, Western Colorado 9
In his second match of the day, Rohman pinned his Western Colorado opponent at 1:41 in the first period to add six points to AU’s team score.

At 133 pounds, John Babineau bested his Western Colorado opponent in a narrow 3-2 decision match. Babineau totaled one takedown and earned an escape point in the win.

Kyle Boeke, competing at 149 pounds, earned a 6-5 decision victory against his Western Colorado opponent. Boeke scored six points with two takedowns and two escape points.

Fitzgerald added five points to the Viking’s team score with a 12-2 major decision victory over his Western Colorado opponent at 157 pounds.

At 165 pounds, Tyler Wagener earned a 9-7 decision win over his WCU opponent. Wagener totaled three takedowns and added two escape points in the match. He added a point for riding time to bring his total to 12 points.

In his match against Western Colorado, Mueller rounded up three takedowns, an escape point and a point for riding time in the 8-3 decision victory.

In the last match of the day, Edward Hajas defeated his Western Colorado opponent in a 1-0 decision victory. Hajas earned the single point for riding time.
