MOORHEAD, Minn. — Concordia entered the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) national rankings for the first time this season.
The Cobbers are currently ranked 25th in the latest NWCA Division III Dual rankings. The national dual rankings take into consideration a team’s success in head-to-head competitions.
In addition to the national team ranking, sophomore Ty Bisek (New London, Minn./New London-Spicer HS) remains in the Top 10 in the DIII rankings for the 133-lb weight class.
Concordia is 5-2 in dual meets this season with their only two losses coming at the hands of teams ranked in the Top 15 of the nation in Division II and III.
The Cobbers started the year by beating Division II MSU Moorhead 33-10. CC then split their dual meets at the Univ. of Mary Triangular. The Cobbers beat Dickinson State and then fell to the Univ. of Mary who is ranked No.11 in the latest DII rankings.
Concordia finished off the 2022 portion of its schedule by participating in the Kalahari Duals in Ohio. The Cobbers went 3-1 on Saturday, Dec. 17 – beating host Heidelberg, Mount St. Joseph and Adrian. Their lone defeat on the day was to Loras (Iowa), who is ranked 12th in Division III.
Bisek is tied for the team lead in wins this year with a 13-1 record. He is also tied in pins with nine and has won four straight matches. His only loss is to the No.10-ranked wrestler in DII. Bisek is 40-7 in his career in maroon and gold.
The Cobbers will host their first home dual meet of the season. CC will square off against nationally-ranked Northern State on Friday, Jan. 6 at 7 p.m. The Wolves are ranked 21st in Division II.
