Organization Equals Success for SJU Wrestler

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. – Ben Gilbertson is a big believer in sticking to a well-planned schedule. That’s a big part of why the Saint John’s University junior wrestler has achieved success on and off the mat in Collegeville.

“Time management is huge,” said Gilbertson, a 184-pound Sauk Rapids-Rice High School graduate, who has a team-best 10 wins this season and maintains a 3.75 cumulative GPA. “I know how much time I need to devote to academics and how much time I need to devote to wrestling. If there’s any time left over, I’m usually using that to do something that benefits either my academic or athletic career.

“My schedule is pretty jam-packed from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Then I leave myself two hours to unwind and debrief before getting back at it the next day. It’s pretty regimented, I know, but I feel like it has to be that way if I want to succeed in multiple areas in life.
