IRVING, Texas – Seven North Dakota State wrestlers have been seeded for the 2023 Big 12 Wrestling Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on March 4-5, led by Jared Franek, as the conference office announced the eight pre-seeds for each weight class heading into the event.
Franek, who is ranked No. 2 in the country in the 157-pound weight class, picked up the top seed for the event set to take place at the BOK Center. Franek has been the Big 12 runner-up each of the last two seasons but has posted a 19-1 record, with his only loss coming to the current No. 1 wrestler in the very first match of the season.
Michael Caliendo picked up the No. 3 seed in the 165-pound class. The redshirt freshman is 20-2 on the season, with his only two losses coming against the last two NCAA National Champions in the weight class. Kellyn March will be seeded in the fourth spot in the 149-pound bracket.
DJ Parker and Owen Pentz each picked up a fifth seed in the 184 and 197-pound divisions, respectively. McGwire Midkiff and Dylan Droegemueller wrap up the pre-seedings for the Bison, taking seventh at 133 and 141 pounds.
