MSUM Closes Regular Season at Seventh-Ranked Parkside

MOORHEAD, Minn. — MSU Moorhead wrestling will close the 2022-23 regular season with a trip to Kenosha, Wis., for a dual with the seventh-ranked Parkside Rangers. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Dragons are coming off a dual loss to Northern State last Thursday before battling Dickinson State on Tuesday evening. In the loss to the Wolves, Hunter Hayes and Andre Baguma picked up major decision wins for MSUM. Baguma had seven takedowns in his 18-8 win over Nathan Schauer, while Hayes managed four takedowns in a 10-1 win over Robert Coyle. Baguma has won three of his last four matches since cracking the starting lineup on January 27 against St. Cloud State. The win for Hayes was his third major decision win of the season.

MSUM defeated Dickinson State 35-9 on Tuesday evening to secure their second win of the season. Seven Dragons picked up wins in the dual, led by pins from Baguma and Anthony Castro. Thomas Carrillo, Hayes and Jonas Anez scored major decision wins in the dual, while Clayson Mele won by technical fall.

Gunnar Mogen leads the Dragons with 18 wins this season despite not starting at 149 pounds before Tuesday’s dual. Mogen is coming off a first-place finish at the annual Northland Open last Saturday. Mogen has seven pins, two technical falls and two major decisions so far this season. Those seven pins lead the team in 2022-23. Clayson Mele and Jonas Anez both have 15 wins on their ledgers this season with Mele collecting four pins and Anez managing six major decision victories.
