SIOUX FALLS, S.D.– Augustana wrestling heads to Aberdeen, South Dakota, on Saturday to compete in the NCAA Super Region V tournament. Northern State will host the tournament at Wachs Arena, inside the Barnett Center in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The event begins at 9 a.m.
Augustana competed in 20 duals this season, 16 against NCAA Division II competition and nine against conference teams. The conference opponents make up the Super Region V. The Vikings held a record of 5-4 in NSIC dual action. The ten teams that compete in the NCAA Super Region V, including the Vikings, are Northern State, Minot State, UMary, Southwest Minnesota State, St. Cloud State, Minnesota State, MSU Moorhead, Wisconsin-Parkside, and Upper Iowa.

The Vikings
Jaxson Rohman – 125 pounds
Rohman is a returning national qualifier for the Vikings and is nationally ranked at No. 6 in the latest NWCA rankings. The sophomore held a record of 13-4 this season with 44 takedowns and four wins by fall.
Jack Huffman – 133 pounds
Huffman went 2-2 this season. The Omaha, Nebraska, native won the Super Region V tournament in 2021-22 and placed eighth at the NCAA Division II Championships to become an NCAA All-American last season.
Hunter Burnett – 141 pounds
Burnett, from Pipestone, Minnesota, holds a record of 1-1 this season. Last season, he became a national qualifier at 149 pounds and placed second at the NCAA Super Region V tournament. Burnett was an NCAA All-American and national qualifier at 141 pounds in the 2019-20 season.
Connor Simmonds – 149 pounds
Simmonds holds a record of 12-8 in 2022-23, with five wins by fall. The redshirt freshman has recorded 22 takedowns and three wins by technical fall.
Miles Fitzgerald – 157 pounds
Fitzgerald went 17-11 in 2022-23 with one technical fall and four major decision wins. He qualified for the 2022 NCAA DII National Championships last season at 157 pounds and placed second at the NCAA Super Region V tournament in 2021-22.
Tyler Wagener – 165 pounds
Wagener is 10-7 overall this season and sees a spot at No. 12 in the latest NWCA individual rankings. The Waconia, Minnesota, native qualified for the NCAA DII National Championships last season after placing second at the Super Region V tournament. Wagener has logged three wins by fall and three technical falls in the 2022-23 season.
Kolby Kost – 174 pounds
Kost, from Rapid City, South Dakota, holds a record of 14-6 this season and is ranked at No. 8 in the NWCA poll. The senior has recorded five wins by fall in 2021-22, with one major decision win and one technical fall.
Cade Mueller – 184 pounds
Mueller qualified for the NCAA DII Championships last season at 174 pounds. The junior became a national qualifier after winning the Super Region V in 2021-22. He holds a record of 11-4 this season, with two wins by fall, one technical fall and one major decision. Mueller is ranked at No. 9 in the NWCA rankings.
Max Ramberg – 197 pounds
Ramberg, from Baldwin, Wisconsin, went 16-10 this season. The freshman totaled three wins by fall, one technical fall and seven wins by major decision.
Zach Peterson – 285 pounds
Peterson holds a record of 11-10 overall this season. He has logged 28 takedowns, two wins by fall, three wins by major decision and one technical fall.
One Last Thing
The top three finishers in each weight class will qualify for the NCAA DII Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Championships are set to take place March 10-11.
